TVNP Goes Digital TVNP ‘Open Protocol’ has been used by organisations around the world to provide a standard method to seamlessly interconnect distributed CCTV systems from different manufacturers. It provides reliable manufacturer-independent video routing between up to 65,000 sites, and it has recently been installed to control the world’s largest integrated CCTV system for London's Metropolitan Police.
TVNP has traditionally been based on analog CCTV cameras and control systems. However, as digital video technology has advanced, CCTV systems have moved to an IP network infrastructure to take advantage of the flexibility and scalability of this platform.
Tyco have now developed a TVNP integration module for their state-of-the-art Mosaic control system. This makes it possible to seamlessly integrate a Mosaic IP video system into an existing TVNP network, providing the best of both worlds and allowing a gradual controlled migration from analog to IP.
Mosaic TVNP Integration The example above shows a multi-site TVNP system. Sites 2 and 3 are traditional analog CCTV systems with several video routes in both directions between the two sites.
Site 1 is a hybrid analog/IP system. There is a local CCTV matrix and a number of IP encoders and decoders, all controlled by Mosaic. If an operator at site 1 requests a camera from site 2 then TVNP routes the requested camera to one of the encoders dedicated to incoming video routes. The Mosaic ‘virtual’ matrix will then connect this encoder to the appropriate decoders and/or Mosaic workstations so that the video can be displayed
