Dover District Council Disaster Recovery Suites using state of the art interactive Audio Visual
Dover District Council were looking to provide two Disaster Recovery suites which can be linked together in the case contingency. The project was delivered on time and to budget. It was owned and managed by Tyco Integrated Systems.
Two suites were installed at different locations, providing a backup facility. Furthermore, future plans include the linking of both sites so that remote working can be given in the case that both suites are used for a major emergency.
At a glance, the project consisted of:
• Interactive 600i white board using short throw projection • LCD panels, with the ability to view Sky and News 24; with simultaneous use and ability to annotate the interactive boards when searching Google Earth and/or emergency planning local area maps • Large long-throw projection system including fixed screens used in the Council Chamber • Combined switcher/ scaler • Robust Trolleys for portable repeater screens • Pro-audio in all rooms • Super loop technology used in main Disaster Recovery suite to limit overspill • Professional AV cabinets including cable management, PDU and Lockable door
Each room consists of a SMART board 660i using a unique boom arm. This was chosen by Tyco Integrated Systems, to overcome the need to deploy cables in the ceiling, which allowed the customer to save expense for unnecessary resource.
A number of AV points were positioned in the room to allow repeater screens to be connected. A simple control mechanism allows the screens to show simultaneous information for example; the SMART board displays a map of the area and emergency service deployment while the repeater screens show Sky News or other relevant information that may be of use to those commanding the situation.
Tyco consulted with the Council of hearing impairment facilities; both Loop, Super Loop and the use of Infrared were advised as appropriate amenities for this Disaster Recovery system.
After careful consideration Super Loop technology was chosen, this allows the Council to avoid overspill from a sensitive room and the need-for-neck worn receivers.
Other meeting rooms, including the Council Chamber, were also upgraded with the Audio and Visual Facilities. A professional long-throw projector with a specialised lens was used to provide a large visual display.
Pro-audio systems were installed in each, along with a professional AV cabinet and control. Audio from all sources is integrated with the Conferencing System.
