System Overview
Bus Lane Enforcement System
As part of a major upgrade of traffic CCTV systems in the London Borough of Camden, Tyco Integrated Systems has designed and installed an advanced Bus Lane Enforcement CCTV system.
Developed over a number of years in close partnership with Transport for London (TfL), the system incorporates ultra fast PTZ camera technology.
As part of the complete turnkey project, Tyco Integrated Systems also installed the poles, control room equipment and managed the integration of the system into Camden’s existing CCTV system.
The system consists of ten, high performance PTZ cameras which feature ultra-fast zoom lenses, thus ensuring that a complete 20:1 end to end zoom can be executed in under three seconds.
The accurate detection and number plate reading of even the fastest moving vehicles infringing bus lanes is now facilitated by the system and thus ensures that two images of the vehicle are obtained, one to record the vehicle’s licence plate and the other to generate an overall view of the location and impeding traffic conditions.
High quality video images of the infringements are recorded using an advanced video detection system which utilises two video recorders to store images and record time, date and location data for evidential purposes.
Customer Benefits
The system which interfaces to exclusively developed ticket processing software can enable the automatic processing of penalty charge notices, therefore reducing costs and required manpower.
By improving the quality of evidence and decreasing the time taken to issue penalty charge notices the system now allows local authorities to deal with bus lane infringements in the quickest and most cost effective way.
Tyco Integrated Systems have also designed and supplied similar systems for other London Boroughs including Lambeth and Haringey.
