Introduction

Tyco Integrated Systems were commissioned to supply and install a CCTV monitoring solution for the Rail Safety & Standards Board (RSSB).  During the initial stages of the project a survey was undertaken with RSSB’s consultants, Scott Wilson, and their Design Engineers, WSP, at each of the 6 sites initially identified for inclusion in the trial.  These surveys were done to determine the quantity of cameras required for each site, together with lens type and camera position, mounting height and distance from the crossing.

The Project

The survey’s involved the use of Tyco’s CCTV survey vehicle.  The system will provide CCTV monitoring of driver behaviour at Automatic Half Barrier (AHB) level crossings before and during a Median Strip Trial. A fixed colour camera together with a digital recorder with removable hard disks, will be used at each of the AHB level crossing trial sites across East Anglia.  Tyco have also supplied a review PC and spare disks for the recorders for the duration of this 12 month project.
