Every moment of every day Tyco is doing something vital, strengthening our company, helping our customers to succeed and improving the lives of people around the world.
Our history – over 50 years providing electronic systems to our customers.
Our organization was first created in 1960 under the name of Pye Telecommunications, based in Cambridge. The company grew and started to concentrate on the early use of CCTV and was renamed Pye TVT in 1966. Following on diversification into other areas, the company re-branded itself to Pye Business Communications in 1969 and was subsequently purchased by Philips Electronic and the new company Philips Business Communications was launched. During the period up to 1986, the company grew in expertise and specialisation in areas such as CCTV, Public Address, Traffic Lights and other areas. In 1986, the company re-branded itself to Philips Communications & Security, aligning the name with it's now core products of CCTV and communication systems that covered Public Address, Intercoms, Radio Paging, Voice Recording and Conference Systems. In 1987, Philips aligned a group of companies under Philips Scientific, covering a number of business to business market areas.
In 1997, Philips Communications & Security was split into two parts, one to concentrate on the product distribution and the other, named Philips Projects, was to become the system integrator for al the Philips product range. During this time the company was involved in many prestigious projects, delivering multi technology solutions covering sound, vision, light and computer systems. These covered many market areas from large screen vidiwalls in shopping centres to visitor information systems in botanical gardens and interactive displays in museums.
In July 2000, Tyco International acquired Philips Projects, re-naming the company Tyco Integrated Systems to reflect the wide portfolio of skills and electronic systems that the company delivered. Tyco International was one of the fastest growing companies in the World at this time and the new company doubled it's size in the next year. Following a company review, it was decided to bring more market focus to the company and in July 2002, it was split into two parts, one remaining under the TIS banner was to concentrate on traffic & transportation and public area surveillance and the other part was transferred into the ADT part of Tyco International to concentrate on security CCTV systems.
In December 2005, a new group of companies called Tyco Fire & Integrated Solutions was formed across Europe and Tyco Integrated Systems was amalgamated into this group, and traded as Tyco Traffic & Transportation as this was the key market place it addressed. During 2009, Tyco Traffic & Transportation re-branded to Tyco Integrated Systems to reflect the growing diversification that it's leading IP CCTV system, Mosaic, was addressing.
